The Greater Oneonta Historical Society (GOHS) is presenting a series of mystery films based on the works of Willard Huntington Wright, writing under the name of S.S. Van Dine. GOHS member Rev. Ken Hunter of St. James Church has organized the series with the hope that it will encourage saving the 31 River Street house where some of the writer’s books, which eventually became films, were written.
“The Greene Murder Case” (1929) with Jean Arthur and William Powell as Philo Vance will be shown on October 15, with introductory remarks by Paul Jensen, professor emeritus of communication & media at SUNY Oneonta. There will be a talk back after each showing. Admission is free, though donations are always greatly appreciated.
