GOHS will take a walk around the former campus of the Homer Folks Tuberculosis Hospital (1935 – 1973). The land is owned by the State of New York, and currently occupied by the Oneonta Job Corps Academy (OJCA), the NYS Department of Health, and Broome Developmental Services Transitional Center. The tour begins at the parking lot just off West Street at 6:30 PM. Homer Folks walking tour leaders are GOHS executive director Bob Brzozowski and Janice Downie, who was a nurse at Homer Folks, and Chris Kuhn, OJCA director. Walking along the campus’ roads and paths, the tour leaders will discuss the past and present uses of the various buildings.
Participation is by donation and is limited to thirty persons. Pre-registration is required. Register by contacting the History Center at (607) 432-0960 or info@OneontaHistory.org.
